Vijaya Parvati Vrat Katha
Vijaya Parvati Vrat is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. This Vrat is especially observed on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month. By observing this Vrat, one gets happiness, good fortune, and family prosperity. Married women especially observe this Vrat for the longevity of their husbands and marital happiness.

Vijaya Parvati fast story(Katha)

Once upon a time, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were seated on Mount Kailash. Mother Parvati asked Lord Shiva -

Mother Parvati said:
“O Mahadev! Women in the world observe many fasts for the long life, happiness and prosperity of their husbands and for the well-being of their families. Which is that fast, by observing which a woman gets good fortune, happiness of children and peace and happiness in the family and the obstacles in her life are removed?”

Then Lord Shiva said -

Lord Shiva said:
“O Goddess! The holy fast that falls in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashadha is called Vijaya Parvati Vrat. This fast is dedicated to Mother Parvati. By observing this fast with devotion, a woman gets unbroken good fortune, long life of her husband, happiness of children and happiness and prosperity in the family.”

Lord Shiva narrated the story of Vijaya Parvati Vrat to Mother Parvati.

Vijaya Parvati Vrat Katha

In ancient times, there was a city in a town A pious Brahmin couple lived in the village of Shiva. They were ardent devotees of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. They lacked nothing in their lives. They had wealth, honor, respect, and comforts, but they had no children.

The Brahmin couple devoutly worshipped Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, hoping for a child. They remembered the Lord daily and prayed for a worthy child.

One day, Goddess Parvati asked Lord Shiva about the couple's devotion and their wishes. Lord Shiva said that their devotion was true and that their wish would be fulfilled at the right time.

Some time later, by the grace of Goddess Parvati, a son was born to the Brahmin couple. The entire family was overjoyed by the birth of the son. They raised him with love and values.

As the child grew up, he began to acquire knowledge of religion, Vedas, scriptures, and morality. He was obedient to his parents and a devotee of God.

Once the child faced a crisis. His parents became very worried. They worshipped Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and prayed for the protection of their son.

Seeing the devotion of the devotee couple, Mother Parvati said to Lord Shiva -

“O Lord! Your devotees have always worshipped you with devotion and faith. Their devotion should not be allowed to go in vain.”

By the grace of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati, the child was freed from the crisis. The family considered it to be the blessings of the gods and goddesses and performed the puja as per the rituals.

Then Lord Shiva said -

“O Parvati! The woman who observes the Vijaya Parvati Vrat with devotion and regularity and listens to or recites this story, many troubles of her life are removed. By the grace of Mother Parvati, she gets good fortune, happiness, prosperity and well-being of the family.”

Mother Parvati said -

“The woman who observes this fast with devotion, there will be peace and happiness in her home. This fast will be auspicious for the long life and health of her husband and the wish for the welfare of her children and family will be fulfilled.”

The devotee who observes the Vijaya Parvati Vrat with devotion, worships Mother Parvati and listens to or reads the story, the blessings of the Mother remain in his life.

Keep flowers, sandalwood, roli, akshat, durva, belpatra, milk, curd, honey, and sweets.

Puja Vidhi

Bathe the idol of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati with Ganga water. Offer sandalwood, flowers, and Belpatra.

Listen or read Vijaya Parvati Vrat Katha.

Aarti

Perform the Aarti of Shiva and Parvati.

Observance of the fast

Keep the fast throughout the day and eat fruits.

Vrat Paran

End the fast the next day by feeding Brahmins and donating.
