Vijaya Parvati Vrat is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. This Vrat is especially observed on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month. By observing this Vrat, one gets happiness, good fortune, and family prosperity. Married women especially observe this Vrat for the longevity of their husbands and marital happiness.
Vrat Katha
In ancient times, there was a king named Chandrasen. He was a very religious, just and well-wisher of his subjects. Once he had to go to a difficult war. The war was extremely difficult and his chances of victory seemed low. The king worshipped Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati before the war. He performed severe penance and observed a fast to please Goddess Parvati. Goddess Parvati was pleased with his devotion and appeared before him. She said, "O Chandrasen! I am pleased with this fast of yours. I give you the boon of victory. This war of yours will be successful." With the blessings of Mother Parvati, King Chandrasen not only won the war but also filled his kingdom with prosperity and peace. Since then this fast came to be known as Vijaya Parvati Vrat.
