Kalashtami Vrat has special significance in Hinduism. This fast is dedicated to Lord Bhairav and is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha every month. Especially Kalashtami of Margashirsha month is also called Bhairav Ashtami. Fasting on this day and worshiping Lord Bhairav removes fear, brings peace in life and the seeker receives divine blessings.

Kalashtami Vrat Vidhi
- Take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
- Install the idol or picture of Lord Bhairav.
- Offer incense, lamp, flowers, coconut, oil lamp and liquor to Bhairav ji.
- Chant Bhairav Chalisa, Bhairavashtak and "Om Kaal Bhairavay Namah" mantra.
- Stay awake at night and do bhajan-kirtan.
- Feast the next day and feed Brahmins and the poor.
Kalashtami Vrat Katha
According to the Puranas, Lord Bhairav was born from the anger of Lord Shiva. He removed the arrogance of Brahmaji and protected the gods. Lord Bhairav is considered the lord of time and time. It is believed that fasting and worshiping on the day of Kalashtami removes all sorrows and a person lives a fearless life.
By observing Kalashtami Vrat, a person gets freedom from fear in life, destruction of sins and happiness and prosperity. One who worships Lord Bhairava with faith and devotion always becomes the recipient of his grace.
