Importance of Gaun Devutthan Ekadashi
According to the scriptures, on this day Lord Vishnu awakens from Yognidra and resumes the work of governing the universe. Observing this fast destroys sins and leads to the attainment of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. Tulsi Vivah also holds special significance on this day, which leads to a happy married life and the blessing of children. The secondary Devutthana Ekadashi is especially for those devotees who are unable to observe the fast on the main Ekadashi date.
Method of worship for Gaun Devutthan Ekadashi
- Wake up in the morning during Brahmamuhurta, take a bath, and wear clean clothes.
- Worship Lord Vishnu with yellow clothes, flowers, incense sticks, lamps, and Tulsi leaves.
- Organize Tulsi Vivah and perform the marriage of Lord Shaligram and Tulsi Mata.
- Fast the entire day and chant the mantra 'Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya'.
- Donate and feed the poor and Brahmins.
