According to the Hindu calendar, the new moon day of the month of Phalguna is called Phalguna Amavasya. This day is considered extremely important for bathing, charity, offering prayers to ancestors, and worshipping Lord Shiva. Fasting on Phalguna Amavasya brings happiness and prosperity to life and provides relief from ancestral curses. 

Importance of Phalguna Amavasya

Phalguna Amavasya Puja Vidhi

  1. Take a vow to observe the fast after bathing in the morning.
  2. Offer Arghya to the Sun God.
  3. Worship Lord Shiva and Vishnu.
  4. Perform Tarpan and Shraddha for the ancestors.
  5. Donate clothes, food and money to the needy.
  6. In the evening, donate lamps and sing bhajans and kirtans. Do it.

According to mythological belief, bathing, donating and offering prayers to ancestors on this day satisfies the souls of ancestors.
