Utpanna Ekadashi Vrat Katha
According to mythology, there used to be a tyrannical demon named Mur in Satyuga. Mur had tortured the gods and sages by oppressing heaven, earth and underworld. The gods and sages became helpless due to his strength and power and prayed to Lord Vishnu. Hearing the prayers of the gods, Lord Vishnu decided to fight with Mur. A fierce battle took place between Lord Vishnu and Mur. Lord Vishnu used all his powers in the war, but Mur was very powerful and it was becoming difficult to defeat him. Tired of Mura, Lord Vishnu went to rest in a cave in Badrikashram. When Mura saw that Lord Vishnu was sleeping, he entered the cave and tried to attack Lord Vishnu. At the same time a divine power appeared from Lord Vishnu's body. This power was in the form of a goddess. The goddess attacked Mura and killed him. After killing Mura, the goddess woke up Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu asked the goddess, "Who are you?" The goddess said, "O Lord! I have been born from your power. I have killed Mura." Lord Vishnu was pleased and blessed the goddess and said, "Your name will be **Ekadashi**. Whoever fasts on your day and remembers God, all his sins will be destroyed and he will attain salvation."
