Padmini Ekadashi Vrat Katha

Padmini Ekadashi Vrat is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This fast is very rare and special because it is observed only on the Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha of Adhik Maas (Purushottam month). Adhik Maas comes once every three years, so this fast is considered extremely Punyad and Phalaad. By doing this, all sins are destroyed, and the person attains salvation.

According to the mythological gods, once upon a time, in Satyuga, King Krityaveer Arjun was ruling the kingdom happily and peacefully with his wife. He was extremely religious and an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu. But he did not get the happiness of Santmat. Due to this the king and his wife remained unhappy. The king performed many yagyas and tapasya to get a child, but did not get success. Then the king went to sage Angira and asked for a solution to his problem. Sage Angira said, "O King! Observe the Padmini Ekadashi fast of the Shukla Paksha of Adhik Maas. This fast is extremely fruitful and by observing it all your wishes are fulfilled. Lord Vishnu himself will fulfill your wishes." According to the sage's teachings, the king and queen fearlessly observed the Padmini Ekadashi fast. Lord Vishnu was pleased by the effect of the fast and his darshan was done. The Lord blessed, "O King! Fulfill all the wishes. You will get the star brilliance and a virtuous saint." With the blessings of Lord Vishnu, the king and the queen got a childhood son. Since then this fast was observed for saint happiness, destruction of sins and attainment of salvation.

Padmini Ekadashi Vrat Vidhi

1. Bath and Purification

   Take a bath with Ganga water or pure water in the morning and wear clean clothes.

2. Resolution

   Take a resolution of the fast of Lord Vishnu.

3. Preparation of Puja

   Install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu.

4. Pujan Samagri

   Tulsi leaves, flowers, sandalwood, incense, lamp, fruits, and panchamrit.

5. Mantra Japa

   Chant the mantra "Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay".

6. Vrat Katha Shravan

   Recite or narrate the Padmini Ekadashi Vrat Katha.

7. Ratri Mahotsav

   Perform kirtan and jagran in the name of Lord Vishnu.

8. Vrat Paran

   On Dwadashi Tithi, break the fast by offering food and donation to Brahmins.

Importance of Vrat

1. It destroys the sins of all the fasts.
2. Dhari Vrat brings wealth, happiness, prosperity and saintly happiness.
3. With the grace of Lord Vishnu, one attains salvation and Vaikuntha.
4. This fast completes the mantras and brings peace in life.
