Sawan Shivratri Puja Vidhi

Bath and purification: On the day of the fast, take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.

Preparation for worship: Decorate the worship plate in front of the Shivling or the idol of Lord Shiva, which includes incense, lamp, sandalwood, flowers, Belpatra, Dhatura, fruits, and naivedya. Keep it.

Resolve for the fast: Take a pledge to fast while meditating on Lord Shiva.

Story of Sawan Shivratri

There are many stories of Sawan Shivratri, one of the main stories is as follows:

Once in ancient times, Parvati ji asked Lord Shiva which fast and abstinence is most dear to him. Lord Shiva said that the fast of Sawan Shivratri is very dear to him. On this day, whoever fasts and worships with faith and devotion, gets freedom from all sins and all his wishes are fulfilled. According to another legend, Lord Shiva held the Halahal poison that came out during the churning of the ocean in his throat, due to which his throat turned blue and he was called Neelkanth. Shiva devotees remember this day as the day of drinking poison and worship Lord Shiva specially.
