The second day of Sharad Navratri is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Brahmacharini. Brahmacharini is the goddess of penance and meditation. Worshiping her bestows self-control, devotion, and spiritual power upon the devotee.

Form of Goddess Brahmacharini

  • Maa Brahmacharini holds a rosary in her right hand and a kamandalu in her left. She is a symbol of penance and devotion.

Method of worship

  • After bathing in the morning, take a vow to fast.
  • Purify the idol/picture of Goddess Brahmacharini with Ganga water and offer flowers.
  • Offer incense, lamps, and naivedya.
  • Chant the Brahmacharini Mantra:

    Om Devi Brahmacharini Namah

  • Reciting the Navdurga Stotra and Durga Saptashati is considered auspicious.
