Kankadhara Stotra
Kankadhara Stotra is a very famous and miraculous stotra of the glory of Mother Mahalakshmi. It was composed by Adi Shankaracharya. It is believed that once the boy Shankaracharya went to the house of a very poor Brahmin family for alms. There was nothing to give in the house, yet the housewife reverently offered an amla (amalak) in alms.
Impressed by the housewife’s selfless spirit and compassion, Adi Shankaracharya composed the Kanakadhara Stotra in praise of Mother Mahalakshmi. Pleased with his prayer, Goddess Lakshmi rained gold (gold) on the house. Since then, this stotra became known as Kanakadhara Stotra.
Even today, reciting this stotra with devotion and regularity is believed to bring grace, economic advancement, fortune and prosperity to Goddess Lakshmi.
